Who will enjoy working here?

Anyone who enjoys dealing with a wide variety of people and wants to put a smile on our customers faces, including in VIP areas. And don’t worry: if you can’t carry three plates at once, we’ll be happy to teach you!

Possible locations:

At business events, in the VIP area of the St. Jakob-Park stadium, in the Congress Center at congresses and conferences, at company parties in the St. Jakobs-Halle and so on.

  • You help with the preparation and cooking before the event
  • You look after and serve our guests from the buffet
  • You adhere to the hygiene guideline

Possible work locations:

Central production kitchen, Riehenring, in the kitchen at Messe Zürich during exhibition times or directly at various events.

How you make guests & colleagues happy here:

  • You actively support the set-up and dismantling at our events (kitchens, outlets, etc.)
  • You help with the provision and timely delivery of materials, food and drinks
  • You will help with the return, cleaning and storage of materials

Anyone who is not afraid of physical work and enjoys working in a team.

Possible locations:

All our event locations in Basel and Zurich or at our main warehouse at Riehenring in Basel.

    FAQ | Part-time job

    Do I need any training?

    No, training is not necessary. However, if you are ready for it, you can learn on the job in almost any area.

    Do you offer training or familiarisation courses?

    In principle, a briefing is held for all employees prior to a given assignment. If the area of work you’re assigned to is new to you, your tasks will also be explained to you in more detail. Given the fact that we have over 700 temporary staff in total, the head of operations may not even realise that this is your first assignment – so please let them know in advance.

    How much can I earn?

    This depends on your experience and your area of work. Basically however, the L-GAV (National Collective Labor Agreement for the Hospitality Industry) applies. Commitment pays off: Our wages are above the standard pay scale.

    Can I start without experience in event catering?

    Yes, previous experience is not required – we will train you on the job.

    Do I need specific work clothing?

    The description of the shift in the app always states what clothing is required. For work in the public and hospitality sectors, you will definitely need a nice pair of black cloth trousers, and black leather shoes for some shifts. Shirts, T-shirts and chef’s jackets are provided by us. You will receive a leaflet from us when you join, with all the information you need to know. Please read it carefully.

    I am a cross-border commuter, do I need to apply for a work permit?

    We apply for a registration procedure for all cross-border commuters for the first 90 days. Once the 90 days have expired, an official cross-border commuter permit is required. This is also applied for by us. The costs for the permit (approx. CHF 72) are at your expense. The permit is valid for 5 years anywhere within Switzerland and for any employer.

    I have an employer outside of Switzerland (e.g. Germany, Austria, France). Can I still work for Wassermann?

    Unfortunately not. For social security reasons, we cannot employ people who have another employer abroad.

    What can I expect on Recruiting Day?

    The Recruiting Day is an approximately two-hour event during which you will be given information about the company, the HR department and the various areas of work. At the end of this event, speed dating sessions take place – during a short interview you will get to know the event managers and the employees of the HR department.

    How often does the Recruiting Day take place?

    The Recruiting Day usually takes place every 1-2 months.

    Why are at least 10 assignments per year expected?

    Joining our pool of temporary staff involves some administrative work for us, which is why we appreciate you working for us on a regular basis. We also guarantee that the more often you work for us, the more fun you will have. We value good teamwork. And it’s easier for you if you already know your tasks and how to fulfill them.

    Do I have to decide on an area of work right at the start?

    No, you are welcome to find out what you enjoy most or work in different areas in the long term.

    I am looking for a vacation job, are there any opportunities at Wassermann?

    We are a seasonal company. This means that there are not always the same number of events taking place and the employment opportunities vary greatly. There are fewer events in the summer months of July and August in particular. In June, October and November, on the other hand, every helping hand is welcome.

    I am 16 years old, can I apply?

    Unfortunately not, the minimum age for employment is 18.

    What is the PLAN|NET App?

    In the PLAN|NET app you can find all planned events and can apply flexibly for different assignments.
