You can choose between the areas of service, kitchen, logistics and housekeeping. No special training is required. However, flexibility, service orientation and high quality standards are important to us. If you also have an affinity for food & drink, perfect!

Who will enjoy working here?

Anyone who enjoys dealing with a wide variety of people and wants to put a smile on our customers faces, including in VIP areas. And don’t worry: if you can’t carry three plates at once, we’ll be happy to teach you!

Possible locations:

At business events, in the VIP area of the St. Jakob-Park stadium, in the Congress Center at congresses and conferences, at company parties in the St. Jakobs-Halle and so on.

Kitchen help

How you make guests & colleagues happy here:

  • You help with the preparation and cooking before the event
  • You look after and serve our guests from the buffet
  • You adhere to the hygiene guideline

Who enjoys working here?

  • Anyone who enjoys cooking and dealing with food
  • Trained chefs who would like to gain experience in a slightly different business sector

Possible work locations:

Central production kitchen, Riehenring, in the kitchen at Messe Zürich during exhibition times or directly at various events.

Logistics, temporary

How you make guests & colleagues happy here:

  • You actively support the set-up and dismantling at our events (kitchens, outlets, etc.)
  • You help with the provision and timely delivery of materials, food and drinks
  • You will help with the return, cleaning and storage of materials

Who enjoys working here?

Anyone who is not afraid of physical work and enjoys working in a team.

Possible locations:

All our event locations in Basel and Zurich or at our main warehouse at Riehenring in Basel.

6. Start your part-time job

Once you’ve accepted, you’ll receive access to our app. There, you can independently apply for available shifts.

    FAQ | Part-time job

    Do I need any training?

    No, training is not necessary. However, if you are ready for it, you can learn on the job in almost any area.

    Do you offer training or familiarisation courses?

    Yes, we provide basic training that also serves as your onboarding. You’ll learn all the essential skills and knowledge you need for your role at Wassermann & Company AG. Before every assignment, all employees receive a briefing, and for your first assignment in a new area, your responsibilities will be explained in more detail.

    How much can I earn?

    Your salary depends on your experience and the role you take on. We generally work in line with the L-GAV (National Collective Labor Agreement for the Hospitality Industry). Exceptional commitment and performance are rewarded with above-average compensation.

    Can I start without experience in event catering?

    Yes, previous experience is not required – we will train you on the job.

    Do I need specific work clothing?

    The description of the shift in the app always states what clothing is required. For work in the public and hospitality sectors, you will definitely need a nice pair of black cloth trousers, and black leather shoes for some shifts. Shirts, T-shirts and chef’s jackets are provided by us. You will receive a leaflet from us when you join, with all the information you need to know. Please read it carefully.

    I am a cross-border commuter, do I need to apply for a work permit?

    We apply for a registration procedure for all cross-border commuters for the first 90 days. Once the 90 days have expired, an official cross-border commuter permit is required. This is also applied for by us. The costs for the permit (approx. CHF 72) are at your expense. The permit is valid for 5 years anywhere within Switzerland and for any employer.

    I have an employer outside of Switzerland (e.g. Germany, Austria, France). Can I still work for Wassermann?

    Unfortunately not. For social security reasons, we cannot employ people who have another employer abroad.

    What can I expect from the Recruiting Event?

    The recruiting event is a two-hour session where you’ll learn more about our company and the different areas you could work in. If you’re still interested after the event and we feel you’re a good fit, we’ll invite you to the next step: our basic training.

    How often does the Recruiting Event take place?

    The event usually takes place once a month.

    Why are at least 15 assignments per year expected?

    We believe that regular assignments lead to great collaboration. With each assignment, you’ll feel more confident and enjoy your work more as you become familiar with your responsibilities.

    Do I have to decide on an area of work right at the start?

    No, you are welcome to find out what you enjoy most or work in different areas in the long term.

    I am looking for a vacation job, are there any opportunities at Wassermann?

    We are a seasonal company. This means that there are not always the same number of events taking place and the employment opportunities vary greatly. There are fewer events in the summer months of July and August in particular. In June, October and November, on the other hand, every helping hand is welcome.

    I am 16 years old, can I apply?

    Unfortunately not, the minimum age for employment is 18.

    How often can I work, and what level of workload should I expect?

    As a seasonal business, we experience busy periods with many events as well as quieter phases (such as July and August).
    Through our app, you can flexibly apply for shifts that fit your schedule, allowing you to manage your workload to a certain degree.
    A minimum commitment of 15 assignments per year is required.

    How does our app make things easier for you?

    In the PLAN|NET app you can find all planned events and can apply flexibly for different assignments.
